Holiday eating

Well, we all know how much fun it is to watch what we eat at Christmas! Food just seems to be such an important part of all the festivities. I found this little set of rules I thought my readers would appreciate! Enjoy!

Holiday Eating Guidelines

1. Avoid carrot sticks. Anyone who puts carrots on a holiday buffet tableknows nothing of the Christmas spirit. In fact, if you see carrots, leaveimmediately. Go next door, where they're serving rum balls.

2. Drink as much eggnog as you can and quickly. You can't find it any other time of year but now. So drink up! Who cares that it has 10,000 calories in every sip? It's not as if you're going to turn into an 'eggnog-aholic' or something. It's a treat. Enjoy it! Have one for me. Have two. It's later than you think.

3. If something comes with gravy, use it. That's the whole point of gravy.Gravy does not stand-
alone. Pour it on. Make a volcano out of your mashed potatoes. Fill it with gravy. Eat the volcano. Repeat.

4. As for mashed potatoes, always ask if they're made with skim milk orwhole milk. If it's skim, pass. Why bother? It's like buying a sports carwith an automatic transmission.

5. Do not have a snack before going to a party in an effort to control your eating. The whole point of going to a Christmas party is to eat other people's food for free. Lots of it. Hello?

6. Under no circumstances should you exercise between now and New Year's. You can do that in January when you have nothing else to do. This is the time for long naps, which you'll need after circling the buffet table while carrying a 10-pound plate of food and that vat of eggnog.

7. If you come across something really good at a buffet table, like frosted Christmas cookies in the shape and size of Santa, position yourself near them and don't budge. Have as many as you can before becoming the center of attention. They're like a beautiful pair of shoes. If you leave them behind, you're never going to see them again.

8. Same for pies. Apple, pumpkin and mincemeat - have a slice of each. Or, if you don't like mincemeat, have two apples and one pumpkin. Always have three. When else do you get to have more than one dessert -- Labor Day?

9. Did someone mention fruitcake? Granted, it's loaded with the mandatory celebratory calories, but avoid it at all cost. I mean, have some standards.

10. One final tip: If you don't feel terrible when you leave the party orget up from the table, you haven't been paying attention. Reread tips: Start over, but hurry, January is just around the corner. Remember: "Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body. But rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in hand, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming 'WOO-HOO what a ride!

Nov. 16

Over Halfway November! And.....my Christmas music is playing! Yay!! Nothing like listening to the Young Messiah to 'pick me up'! (New London Choral) and followed by Michael W. Smith. And there's a layer of snow on the ground. Almost tempted to put up the decorations...December 1 is a LONG way off! :)
Happy November snow day!!

Chandler Bryce

Add Image This past week Sunday, our little boy turned 3!!!!! It doesn't really seem that long ago that we had a huge snow storm
and brought home a little bundle of a boy! Weighing in at 7lbs 11oz, he was really little! Our lightest babe to this day! He didn't sleep very well at night like the girls did. His carseat was his bed for the first 6 weks of his life! He slept MUCH better in there! Chandler has always been a quiet(er) happy boy!! He is growing SO fast, speaking lots of sentances, wanting to talk on the phone, memorizing Felicity's songs and bible texts for school. He likes to blow tempers though, and they are doozies!! We were worried about taking his soother(me) away but it happened without any problems!! What a big boy we have! Happy birthday Chandler. We thank God everyday for you!! Love you my boy!

September

Evangelene opening a card at her Birthday party. It was an awesome sunny day, warm enough to put the bathing suits on and run through the sprinkler.
Her Tinkerbell cake! Tasted so yummy!

Felicity getting on the bus for her first day of school. Mommy did well too! :)
September was a busy and exciting month for us. Evangelene's 4th birthday, Felicity's first day of Kindergarten, Chandler not using a soother (me) anymore, Peyton finally daring to walk! It was crazy busy, getting used to routines again, making lunches, Jason going to late shift (ugh!) bible studies and societies starting up too. Choir tonight! YAY!!
The business is now up and running! Woot! And we got Jason's new camera too. Another wedding in Oct and hopefully some family pictures too! The days are getting shorter and the furnace is on longer. Here's hoping that we can have some more nice fall days yet!
Felicity is enjoying school. She was one of the only ones not able to write her name when she started, but now can do it! (most of the time!) She's got her memory work done and knows the theme of the year already! Most nights before school days, she puts herself to bed early (some days even as early as 6pm! Crazy girl!) and bounces out of bed! She woke up the first day of school with a "is it morning mom?" When I said yes it was she jumped out of bed and whispered "YES!!!" (Peyton was still sleeping! ) She loves the bus ride. She has to be at the bus stop at 7:10am and is dropped off at 4:15-4:25pm. A long day for sure, but she is doing so well!
Evangelene has been told she is not allowed to suck her thumb anymore. It's not working so well! Chandler's soother has been taken away and he's been doing great! Still napping everyday and going to bed ok! YAY!! Peyton has finally tried to start walking and is constantly taking more steps every day! YAY!! She's my earliest walker! It's very cute!
I've been trying to sort through all the clothes from this summer and put stuff away. I have a hard time getting rid of stuff, even though I know I should. I've been baking more, and using the crock pot lots! Yumm!
So ya, September has been busy, but in a good way! Now on to housework! Good day all!
